Frequent power outages disrupt HVAC program

I’ve been living in this city for just about 6 months now, and I’m still deciding exactly how I feel about it.

See, I moved many states away from all of my friends and family, and I haven’t made new friends at all here. What’s more, I’m terrified of driving in this area because on top of the rampant traffic problem, the other motorists are complete idiots who pay no attention to what they’re doing. It’s truly dangerous out there. One thing I love about the region, however, is the prevalence of trees and forests integrated with the city. There are so many patches of tall trees interspersed with the city perimeter, and they make sitting in traffic slightly more peaceful. The only problem with them is they drop branches often, and knock out the power to our home on a regular basis. These power outages have been messing with our home’s modern temperature control unit, and I’m afraid it could do permanent damage to our central heating and cooling system. Every time we lose power, which is every few weeks, our smart thermostat totally shuts down and has to be reset and rebooted before it will communicate with the air handling equipment again. This means the indoor air is regularly untreated, becoming hot and humid when the air temperature controls and air conditioner stop speaking to one another. It also could be sending power surges to our expensive heating and cooling equipment, which will certainly affect the lifespan of the system. I wish there was something we could do to protect our ventilation system long term!
