There was a shower and toilet down there

Two years ago, Becky was forced to be creative about her finances within a short duration.

Buying this home put a dent on her money.

Not only did Beckt sink just about all her savings into the property, the costs of owning this home were higher than she anticipated. Becky was forced to put in a new heating and cooling system along with redoing the kitchen completely. That wasn’t an easy and cheap thing to do. And the mortgage was also high. While Becky had it covered, she still needed as much money as she could get. So when her dad lost his job during the pandemic, Becky had no one assisting her financially. Things got real in a hurry. Becky had to remove all non-essentials from her spending. Working from home that Summer came with numerous Heating and A/C cooling reduction as she targeted Heating and A/C utility costs for savings as well. Still, Becky just wasn’t quite making it. Then it sort of hit her at the same time. She realized that she had a money maker right underneath her feet. The home came with an almost finished basement with a shower and toilet down there along with a separate entrance. So Becky saw it fit to turn that into a honestly nice one family room apartment. Most of the jobs like putting in a vanity and doing the interior walls was stuff that Becky could do. But when it came to the heating and cooling, both of us called the Heating & A/C professionals for help. They put in multiple smaller ductless heat pumps at either end of the home to provide even heating and cooling to the whole space. So now, her dad has a current job and Bekcy has got 60 percent of her mortgage covered by the apartment rent.
