The R-410A is horrible for the environment

The GWP (Global Warming Potential) of the R-410A became a topic of discussion soon after its implementation into HVAC systems.

  • The general concern was expressed by government agencies, environmental groups, & manufacturers.

While there is nothing like ‘environmentally friendly’ refrigerant, it was important to stage out the R-410A. There is currently a phasing out stage set up in a similar fashion to the R-22. The amount of refrigerant released to the atmosphere does have an impact on climate change. This is why emphasis is still on finding a better solution. I’ve always tried to be mindful of our carbon footprint. When I was in middle school, all of us got to learn about climate change & its effect on the planet. Our professor encouraged us to strive to live in an eco-friendly manner. Now, while it’s not possible to be 100% environmentally friendly, you can live the best way to a large extent. For instance, I recently changed our house up to use a HVAC system with a high SEER rating. That means this HVAC system is nice for the environment since it uses less energy. Energy efficient HVAC systems also benefit homeowners since you end up paying less for energy. A friend of mine also moved his house from the national grid to solar power. Now, there’s a lot that has to be said about solar energy, however it’s a great way to power your home. He’s even making more energy & selling it back to the national grid. I’ve l acquired that small changes can have a pressing impact if several people take the necessary steps.
