The air conditioner was struggling to keep up with the indoor temperature on Wednesday.
The people I was with and I were having a party and people were always in and out of the home all afternoon, despite the fact that I still thought it was strange that the AC wasn’t working correctly. My Dad was sitting on the couch in the living room with sweat on her forehead. I could see that she was really hot and uncomfortable. After the party, I mentioned the problem to my partner. She agreed that it might be time to have a tune-up performed on the system. I called and made an appointment a couple of afternoons later. The tune-up worker was really friendly and knowledgeable. She went through the process step-by-step and explained everything to us. She found a lot of dirt on the evaporator coils! Dirty evaporator coils can cause a number of problems. An harshly dirty coil can cause complete malfunction in the AC system. In order to avoid this type of problem, the AC evaporator coils should be cleaned yearly. The worker performed the repair and I watched as she used a special component to remove all of the dirt and debris. It looks like a vacuum cleaner with strange bristles, but it worked really well. When the woman was done, the evaporator coils looked brand new. After the system tune-up and maintenance, I feel that the system is running much more smoothly than it has in a year or 2. The people I was with and I are even seeing a decline in the weekly utility bills that the people I was with and I have been paying.
