So it’s not a shock that there is a need for air conditioning in the summer.
Even when I lived up north, we had central air conditioning in our home.
The summer days could get hot and without central air conditioning, the house was just uncomfortable. However, there is a great difference between the need for HVAC cooling up north and where I currently reside. I’m now living in the south after retiring from my job inside the zone controlled HVAC of our corporate offices. Planning for retirement and actually doing it were two different things. But it got for real when I actually put in my papers and a successor was chosen for my position. Soon after, we were upgrading the HVAC equipment in our home in order to put it on the market. Again, this was a lot different doing it than just talking about it. It was tough to leave our family home. And when the day came for me to walk away from the zone controlled HVAC of the office, that wasn’t easy either. Somehow, we managed to pull it all together and we are now enjoying retirement and all the possibilities that are before us. Yet, we are also learning just how different the summer is here. This sort of heat and humidity is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. So, my wife and I are attempting to get comfortable with the house being warmer. But it hasn’t been easy and there have been times where we just have to hit the thermostat to provide more HVAC cooling. But we’ll get it and we’re also just super thankful to have great HVAC equipment while we get accustomed to our new climate.
