My neighbor could have ruined my Heating and Air Conditioning or voided the warranty

When my Heating and Air Conditioning method was making squealing noises in the summer, I was wondering what in the world was wrong with my Heating and Air Conditioning.

My neighbor was there and he said he thought he knew what the issue was.

He insisted that both of us shut off the power to the AC condenser unit and check the motor. He said that you are supposed to add oil to the fan motor to stop it from squealing like that. I asked him how he knew that if he wasn’t an Heating and Air Conditioning professional and he said he found that information online. Well, I went online when he was trying to take apart the AC condenser to add oil to the fan motor. Fortunately, I found information that not only will you void the Heating and Air Conditioning if you try to work on it yourself, but you entirely cannot add oil to the fan motor. I showed him that and he said it was a great thing I double checked. All of us put the thing back together and then I told him I was just going to change the air filter before calling the Heating and Air Conditioning professional to have a look at the system. It was unusual because the air filter was unquestionably dirty and I wondered then if that could be the issue. When I put a fresh air filter in the Heating and Air Conditioning machine, abruptly the squealing sounds went away and it operated like normal again. My neighbor shouted, “You fixed it!” I didn’t know the issue was as simple as having a dirty air filter, but my neighbor said he read somewhere that’s a unquestionably proper issue. I wish he would have suggested that in the first site before trying to open the AC condenser unit.
