Mom was insisting he hasn’t seen the grandkids in a long time.
This is an exaggeration, but I believe he just misses them.
When our kids were 1 & 2, I moved back house to live with our Mom after a bad breakup, then Mom insisted I stay as long as I needed to get back on our feet. What was meant to be a year turned into 3. Mom & his grandkids grew a close bond because he took over nanny duties while I was at work. In the sixth year, I got a current opportunity & had to transport away, so he no longer spent all day with them. Last month, I decided to surprise him with the kids & went to visit. I also intended to check out the cooling plan he’d been complaining about. It’s precious for our Mom to ask for assistance regarding things around the house. He’s a retired supplier & knows his way around house repairs & updates. But, he draws the line at cooling systems & says it’s best to leave such labor for the experts. I’m an Heating & Air Conditioning expert by training, & this is why Mom asked myself and others to come by & take a look. The only issue was I never told him when both of us were coming. He was pleasantly surprised when the kids rang the bell & started calling his name. As they swam in the pool, I noted the cooling plan was too worn out & opted to get another 1 for Mom before both of us left. He was so thrilled with the current component & kept calling to replace myself and others about it.
