Mom and dad came rushing to my room when they heard me scream.
They thought that maybe I’d hurt myself.
But, the scene before them was so bad they had to rush in and take charge. My brother and I were on the floor fighting tooth and nail. I had bit him so he hit me so hard on my stomach. All this chaos was for the simple reason that I had dared to change the temperature settings on the thermostat. See, in summer, I prefer the house a little cold. I’m in my teen years and tend to sweat a lot. The summer heat gets too much that I always want to drop the temperature in the house a couple of degrees. When my brother is off at work or college, I’m free to do as I please. But, when he’s at home, we tend to squabble over the temperature settings at home. Now, on this particular day, he had changed the setting such that it was so hot in my room. I went and adjusted the thermostat. That’s when he came charging into my room and we began to fight. Our parents walked into the front door just in time to hear me let out a loud cry after my brother punched me. This issue with the thermostat had gone on long enough so mom and dad had to change tactics. They chose to hire an HVAC expert to change the thermostat to a smart unit. That way, only mom or dad could change the settings. We were banned from ever touching the thermostat again in our lives while living under their roof.
