Never once did I stop and consider the life I was born into until I finally began changing my perspective a few years ago. It turns out, there are plentiful ways to live besides the suburban drawl that seems to sink so many people these days. Do you really have to buy the newest, fanciest gadgets all the time? No. You don’t need a large house. People don’t even need the level of comfort they work so hard to provide themselves; Case in point? The indoor air control plan most of us use. Have you been using a central heating and cooling system your whole life? It turns out that indoor air control systems do not need to be as intensive and wasteful as we’ve made them. It makes no sense when you really consider the benefits we acquire from HVAC systems in our lives. Not only is there the cost of heating and cooling, to begin with, but then you have to pay for endless professional services on every oil furnace or air conditioner you purchase, over decades, for the lifetime of these devices. If you forget professional service appointments, you’ll pay a lot more in electricity. I figured all of this out the hard way when my HVAC started putting out unevenly-tempered, stinky indoor air a few years ago. I had never called an HVAC specialist before, I realized. My HVAC system was ineffectively handling the indoor air, resulting in barely increasing the temperature, and the ducts were in shambles. After I got done with the large overhaul, I was better off buying a brand new air handling system.
