Last week, when I got home from work, the air conditioning wasn’t working.
I worked in a hospital where we believe the cooler the better.
I understood that heat is a breeding ground for germs and bacteria, but the nurses were freezing. When I got home, and realized there was no air conditioning, I called the HVAC company. I sat down in my chair, which was located close to the air vent, and closed my eyes. I did some meditation, trying to block out the hot humid air that was in my home. My husband came home an hour later, and was about freaked out because of the lack of air conditioning. He asked me how I could sit in the chair looking like there was nothing wrong when it felt like we had just walked through the gates into Hades. I really didn’t want to discuss a lack of air conditioning with him or anyone else. Through meditation, I could find a happy place where I really wasn’t minding it. Told my husband to sit down and relax and the HVAC tech would be there within an hour. Instead of quietly sitting down and forgetting about the heat, he rushed into the kitchen and started banging pans around. Thank goodness for meditation. Not only could I block out the heat and humidity, but I could block out the presence of my husband being in the house.I didn’t budge from my position until an hour later when the doorbell rang. By that time, my husband was done with his temper tantrum, and I was ready to deal with the HVAC technician.
