I usually work alone.
I have my own business and I only have enough business right now to stay afloat.
Things have been tough since the coronavirus and I’m doing my best just to get through things. I usually have one or two flooring jobs each week, but I’ve had a lot of extra work since the stimulus checks were sent out. A lot of people have decided to make home upgrades with the money. I had a flooring replacement project last week and I had to go to the labor pool to get someone to help. I got really lucky, because someone at the labor pool actually had experience with tile and flooring. The guy was valuable on that day. He knew a lot more than I anticipated and did a lot of direction. The guy proved himself to me and I gave him a part-time position. The guy told me that he was only looking for work a couple of days a week, so it worked out perfectly for me. I call him when I need an extra hand and he lets me know if he needs to work a day or two. The relationship is very symbiotic and works out well. If I ever have enough business for a full-time flooring installation technician, I’ll definitely talk that guy into working more hours. I’ve never seen anyone be able to create a solid straight line without a ruler. The guy is great at measuring distance too. He is usually right on the money by an inch or two even when the distance is 12 or 15 ft. He is a really good employee to have around.
