It’s just so frustrating when you do what you’re supposed to do and find that this just isn’t good enough. I came from a pretty conventional household. My mom and dad provided a lovely home with great quality heating and air. They were both attentive and supportive when it came to helping me along life’s path. Yet, they were both of the sort who did things the traditional way. They both worked long hours inside the zone controlled HVAC of their respective offices. But neither were all that happy with what they were doing for a living. Still, in their minds, that was the right thing to do. So I naturally aligned with that sort of lifestyle. I went to college and spent four years in a dorm with radiant heating that could run you out of the place in the winter it was so warm. And then, I got a job in my field and started saving my money to own my own home. Well, the rules of the game changed and the more money I saved, the further away it seemed I was from owning a home. I was so wanting to build equity while also living somewhere I could enjoy good residential HVAC. Eventually, I had to get creative and go against tradition to make that happen. I ended up pooling resources with friends to buy a home together. It’s a big three story place and we all have our own floor with ductless heat pumps as our living space. Sharing a kitchen is no big deal and actually adds to the experience. From here on, I’m going to be much more willing to follow a different path to get where I want to go.
