I sold the air conditioning component within a couple of weeks after I cleaned it up a bit
I legitimately love thrifting and finding things for cheap. I remember being towed around town, sometimes across state lines, by my friend Liz because she had heard about some big item or sale happening from a single one of her numerous friends or coworkers who also loved thrifting. Occasionally she’d wake myself and others up in the wee hours of the morning so every one of us could get there first, and not miss out on the best items. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized that a lot of these items could be bought for cheap in addition to sold for much higher, especially with the advent of the internet. On a single such expedition, I found a quality air conditioning for sale, and it was relatively new. I asked the landlord of the garage sale to plug it up for myself and others to make sure that it worked consistently. When he did, this cooling system pumped out the coldest air I had ever felt. This was an older air conditioning but it worked like it was brand new. He told me he had bought it for his child the year she went to college but she wasn’t coming back home and he was moving into a smaller home since he didn’t want to go up in addition to down the stairs anymore. I sold the air conditioning component within a couple of weeks after I cleaned it up a bit. The person I sold it to asked me if I could install it for her which was a self-explanatory enough task. She paid me fifty dollars for the upgrade which made me even happier. From that afternoon onwards, I too, became a big fan of thrifting.
