David thought he was finally out of the woods financially after landing a job in the city.
He moved into a lovely apartment and had plans to start saving for a home. But, when the pandemic hit, he lost this new job and was back to tarmacking. No one was hiring at the time, and the new apartment’s rent was too high. So, David opted to downgrade and find a cheaper place elsewhere. His new building was simple and didn’t have the luxury of the other place, but it was a roof over his head as he worked on finding a new job. A month into living in this new place, David realized the building had an old commercial air conditioning system. The top floors barely got any air conditioning on those hot summer days and nights. David spoke with a neighbor and said they’d tried so hard to speak with the building owner about the failing air conditioning. But, he never seemed to want to replace it. He’d send an HVAC crew over to patch things up, but that was it. Instead of fussing about the failing air conditioning, David opted to find a solution. Apart from the air conditioning, the building was an okay place to live. So, he chose to invest in a mini-split AC with zoning for his bedroom. That worked so well, and now David doesn’t rely on the old air conditioning to keep his space cool in summer or warm in winter. He got a new job and planned to move in a year if the position is solid.
