My boyfriend convinced me to go camping with his brother and sister-in-law.
I never really liked camping much when I was a kid.
I grew up in the city and my parents didn’t take me to see nature unless it was absolutely necessary. When my boyfriend mentioned camping, I hoped he meant in an RV with water, electricity, toilets, heat, and plenty of food. Sadly, this was not the camping that my boyfriend had in mind. We pitched a small tent on our first night of camping. I was worried that we might be cold, but my boyfriend said our body heat would be all we needed. After one night and the cold air, I realized that my boyfriend was wrong. I wanted to go home. I didn’t want to stay one more night at the campground without heat. I was planning to leave and come back for my boyfriend on Sunday, but he came up with a better idea. We went to a sporting goods store very close to the campground. The place had battery operated heaters. They were really expensive and we got a second set of batteries as well. That night before we went to sleep, my boyfriend put a fresh set of batteries in the heater and turned it on. The difference was like being at home. It was a lot warmer and much more comfortable inside of the tent. Even though we didn’t let the heater run all night, I still slept a lot better. Just falling asleep in a comfortable position made a huge difference.
