Growing up in a sizable city can be a great thing.
I remember I used to run around the neighborhood with my friends until it was dark outside! My parents didn’t mind because my pal and I mainly hung out on our block, or my pal and I used to be inside my best friend’s basement playing interesting games.
Those were the good old afternoons before technology took over our world. While technology isn’t all bad, I do miss the afternoons where my pal and I used our imaginations to create our worlds. I remember that my condo was one of the only ones on the block that had window a/c, however my parents never turned them on during the afternoon hours. My friend and I only used them at nights when my pal and I were going to bed. I can only assume it was to save money, however so, & the window a/c, my pal and I also used fans and my pal and I kept the windows with no a/c installed in them open during the afternoon. I enjoyed that my pal and I had the window a/c devices, however those things were ugly, and they were truly noisy in the night hours! Plus, they didn’t always work respectfully. In fact, they used to freeze up all the time and my pal and I had to turn them off for the ice to melt. Today, window a/c devices are way more advanced, the technology has improved, and they are more aesthetically pleasing overall. In fact, there are some window a/c devices where you can install it and still open your window, a design feature that was not available when I was a young one. In addition to the improved technology and features, the devices have been manufactured to be more energy efficient. And while they can’t update an HVAC device entirely, they can be used to bring relief, especially to residents in the city where I was raised.
