Living next to the coast has a lot of pros and cons associated with it.
On the one hand I really love the fact that I can go to the beach and take a dip in the water whenever I want.
That’s a huge advantage compared to living out in the middle of the country where some places you don’t even have lakes to swim in. However, the red tide has made it really difficult to enjoy the beach as much as I used to. Red tide is a toxic algae bloom that spreads and gets into the air. It causes poor air quality for one. On top of that, I don’t enjoy dealing with the humidity next to the coast either. The humidity is so bad that it gets into my house and I have to turn on the AC or the dehumidifier to get the moisture level down. The dehumidifier goes a long way towards improving my issues with and my humidity levels indoors. However, dehumidifiers aren’t cheap. If you want a good one, you’re going to spend $200 or even $300 for the machine. But it’s worth it if you want to have low humidity levels in your house. That way it won’t get nearly as wet and you’ll reduce the possibility of mold growth. And that leads to better air quality over time. Some people forget about moisture levels when they’re trying to improve their indoor air quality at home. Moisture levels are really important for total indoor air quality control. A lot of air conditioners are really good at pulling out moisture to begin with.
