Sump Pumps

When I was younger I loved to play hide and go seek.

  • It was my favorite game.

At my old house we would gather all of our friends to play. My old neighborhood had about a dozen kids that were all in a close vicinity of each other. We all had walkie talkies so it made the hide and go seek game more fun. We would all be on one channel and let the seeker know if they were getting close or not. My one friend and I would always win, we had the best hiding spots. When my family and I would go to my grandparents house, I would try to get my cousins to play hide and go seek with me. Most of the times they would join in. Mostly we would play outside but it was raining one day. I remember going into the basement kitchen and looking for a hiding place there. I saw a door that I never went in before. I opened the door up and saw a small hole in the floor with water in it. I was a little scared because I thought it was a small well with something hiding in the water. I immediately closed the door and searched for another hiding place. Now that I’m older I now know that it wasn’t a well. It is a sump pit. A sump pit is most likely found in the basement, a small hole that is designed to collect water. The water gets into the pit by entering through perimeter drains of a basement waterproofing system.
