No one called the HVAC company.

My husband and I had safety measures in place for almost any situation.

We knew what we would do if storms came through, or natural disasters occurred.

The one thing we hadn’t talked about was who was going to call the HVAC company, police, or ambulance. When an ice storm hit our area earlier this spring, we were left with no power. When the power came back on, the furnace wasn’t working. I remembered my husband saying we needed to know who was going to make phone calls, but it hadn’t happened. We were all looking at each other and wondering who, if anyone, had called the HVAC company? I didn’t want to call if someone else had, and my wife was thinking the same thing. An hour later, there was a knock on the door. There was an HVAC technician, and he said he was there to look at the furnace. Whoever had called, had been the first person to call the HVAC company before any other homeowners without a furnace. I asked the HVAC technician who had called, and he told us he didn’t know. He was given the address and the name of the owner. He just knew he had to get a furnace running. About an hour later, my furnace was working and we were able to take off our winter coats. Our daughter came downstairs and said it felt wonderful inside. She smiled and told her mom and I to say thank you. She called the HVAC company. She knew no one else was elected, so she took on the job.
