I understand the need to find things that are reusable so you’re not constantly throwing junk in the landfill.
I think it’s a smart thing to use reusable plates and cups instead of paper plates and bowls.
The same goes for cutlery and utensils. Some people don’t have dishwashers in their house so it’s a pain in the ass to constantly clean plates and metal utensils throughout the day. For me, I just throw all my dirties into my dishwasher and run a load once it’s full. But if I was living in an apartment with no dishwasher, I could understand why some people reach for disposable utensils and cup plates. But there are some things that I’m not so sure are reusable or meant to be reused. There are washable air conditioner filters that are available these days and some people swear by them. But the problem is that these washes aren’t that good at even filtering dust. They have to have a certain amount of space in between the particle filter particles so that water can get through and you can actually clean them out. Because of this, a lot of dust goes straight through the washable air conditioner filter. A lot of people talk about having those greater coils covered in dust because their filters were working. I know it’s expensive to buy disposable air conditioner filters, but I think it’s a product that needs to be disposable. Unless you can use a vacuum to clean out a disposable filter, just go and buy a brand new one from the store and call it a day.
