My partner and I live in an section of the country which never gets a lot of tepid weather; As a result, it has never made much sense to install central a/c.
Instead, my friend and I install window a/cs in our study room and family room during the summer time and take them out for the rest of the year! The window cooling system units have always done a fantastic task of cooling the condo during the few nights when the outside uneven temperatures reach the 80s, but so it isn’t that they aren’t doing their task, however it’s a lot of work to put them in, take them out, and store them twice a year.
The other disluck is that they block our view – which is so important to me. I stumbled across an article that discussed installing through-the-wall a/cs. There were many advantages to this option over window a/cs, namely that they don’t block the view, but my partner is quite handy when it comes to carpentry, so my friend and I made the choice to go ahead and make the change. After splitting the pre-measured hole in the walls, he then built the frame to hold and support the a/cs, but next, my friend and I slid the cooling system units into locale and affixed the electrical cord and hoses, but finally, he used the drywall that he had split out of the hole to fill in the spaces between the a/cs and the walls to prevent air from escaping… When the installation was complete, I couldn’t have been happier. I could now prefer the appealing view from our windows at the same time that my rooms were cool and comfortable.
