Heat Exchanger Should Be Cleaned

He inspected the furnace and saw that the heat exchanger was extremely dirty

My family and I always enjoy Christmas morning. My kids got up early and woke my spouse and I up because they were anxiously waiting to open up their presents. I wanted at least one more hour of sleep since I stayed up late to wrap their presents that were from my husband and I. They were so excited. The house was warm, coffee was made and I was ready to see the reactions on their faces. They were going to love what we got them. All of a sudden, after the kids were one gift in from unwrapping we heard the furnace abruptly turn off. We were a little confused because we set the thermostat higher than normal because we were supposed to get a white Christmas. My husband went downstairs to see if he could fix the issue. Unfortunately he was unsure what it was. He couldn’t call our HVAC provider because they were closed on Christmas. We decided to let the problem go and wait to see if it would turn back on and go back to watching our children’s reactions to their presents. Unfortunately the furnace didn’t turn back on. The next day we had a technician come to the house. He inspected the furnace and saw that the heat exchanger was extremely dirty. He was glad that he found this on time because it was making our furnace run very inefficiently. He also recommended that the next time we have our periodical check, to mention to the technician to check the heat exchanger.
