Have you ever had to deal with an insurance company after an accident? Recently, we were hit from behind and our car was totalled.
This means that it was deemed a total loss based on the value the insurance company decided upon.
I could not believe that I had taken such good care of my car only to be told it was worth half the value of what I still owed. When I asked about the liability that the other insurance was responsible for, I was told that I did not have any ability to go after them either. This was all very frustrating. After a week of arguing back and forth I finally got my insurance company to agree to a larger settlement. I feel sorry for anyone who has to go through this process. We were able to purchase a new car and it is great. It is far more comfortable than my last car but it comes with a price. The dealer was very nice but it took about 3 hours at the dealership to complete the transaction. It was about 85 degrees outside so sitting in the offices in the air conditioning was a welcome break. I was however nervous about all the details and actually felt chilled from the cold air. By the time we left the sun had started to go down and the air started to cool. Overall, the time spent buying the new car was pleasant. The new car has a great HVAC system that can be controlled by voice command. I wish I had that ability with my home system. Maybe one day this will be a standard option with home HVAC systems. For now, if it exists, I am sure it is very costly to have installed.
