Last week on my way to work, I noticed a local HVAC company van off to the side of the road with his emergency flashers on.
I recognized the logo on the van because they had recently done some HVAC repair work at my house.
The A/C at my house was not working after a very hot summer so we needed some maintenance on the unit. Although the unit is old and in need of replacing, the HVAC company was able to repair it so we could hold off on replacing until next year. This gives us ample time to save up for the big repair. It was very nice of the company to consider that. I stopped to see if the HVAC worker needed a ride or needed me to call someone to pick him up. When I got closer to the van, I realized that it was the same HVAC technician that had worked at my house just last week. He was ecstatic to see me because he had forgotten his cell phone at home that day. The van had overheated and his plan was to walk to the nearest gas station off of the highway and grab a gallon of water to get him to the repair shop. I let him use my cell phone to call the HVAC company for assistance. In less than an hour, they had a tow truck there to bring the van and the worker back to the shop. He was on his way to do a monthly maintenance inspection. He was able to get a coworker to cover for him while he dealt with the tow truck. He took the rest of the day off.
