We seldom have tornadoes in our area, but when the wind blows from all directions, we make sure to keep our ears and eyes open.
- The sky takes on an unmistakable hue that can only lead to bad weather conditions.
When the wind blows hard and the leaves turn inside out, my grandmother told us to take cover. This was one of those storms. My dad told us to stay close to the house and to keep an eye on the skies. I was about five miles from home when I heard the tornado warnings going off. I could see a large funnel out my rear window, and I sped up. I remembered this movie about people chasing tornadoes, and at one point the girl said they had cows. I looked out my window and I had an air conditioner. The air conditioning unit was sliding down the road, and I wanted to make sure it didn’t collide with my truck. The tornado seemed to be following the same path as the air conditioning, which was following my path. I was terrified the tornado would pick me up and send me flying, but it didn’t happen. All I had was an air conditioning unit following me down the road, and tumbling across the road into my neighbor’s front yard. This storm was definitely different from any tornado I had ever experienced. When I got into the house, my dad asked if I had seen the air conditioner that flew into our neighbor’s yard. I told him I hadn’t just seen it, but it chased me down the road for almost a mile.
