Mom and I were trying to figure out the best time to meet up in the city and have some coffee.

I chose to go to the next state and study at a great college. Mom would drive there and we’d share a meal or coffee, and I must say those were always the best days for me. I knew she wanted me to go to school locally, but she also made it clear I was the one to pick my future. I chose this school because they had a great program, and the city had many opportunities for me. Eventually, I graduated and landed a good job in one of the top companies. Mom was over the moon, and this was the first time she was coming to the city since I got hired. One issue that was bugging her was the faulty AC in her home. Mom had told me she tried to use the AC during spring and it failed. This is an aging air conditioner, and mom was better off buying a new one. But, she will soon sell this house and move to a smaller place. So, she felt she wanted to wait until the right time to replace the entire HVAC system. Instead of paying for a new AC, I’d advised mom to go with a ductless AC system. She could use the ductless AC to cool her home during summer, and take it with her when it was time to move. That day we were meeting, mom was waiting for the HVAC expert to come by and install the ductless AC. She was happy with the idea of the cooling unit and wanted it set up before leaving home.
