My grandmother used to warn my cousins and me that bad things tended to occur in groups of three.
I have to admit that I never unquestionably believed her either, and I never unquestionably believed in that kind of thing either.
To be honest, though, the older I get, I think my Grandma might have had a point all those years ago. When I was a child, she would tell us all kinds of bizarre tales. When it came to her, my friend and I were unsure of what to assume and what not to. Anyway, she used to say that bad things occurred in groups of three, and my friend and I all believed her. She was relating to me a number of strange occurrences that had occurred to her, and sure enough, there were three unfavorable events that followed one another. One afternoon, after wrecking her car, she set fire to her dining room before she could even get it fixed! That incident completely caught me off guard, and I was relieved that she wasn’t hurt. Anyway, my Grandma warned us that something bad would inevitably happen again after that afternoon. Despite being incorrect, I didn’t feel it would. My friend and I were still cleaning the dining room after the fire when my grandmother discovered that her heating and air conditioning system had completely failed. The boiler fan, or something similar, was torn apart because the ventilation system had somehow sucked in a ton of smoke. Despite the fact that I felt bad for her after the Heating and A/C system failed on top of everything else, I don’t understand why everything went wrong.
