For a long time, they always longed to live somewhere remote near a small town, and surrounded by farms or woodland.
This dream started when they met back in 2013, but it’s only in 2019 that they made it come true. This is because they had to find the right state to relocate to, then know the budget for a house with about 100 acres of land. After that, they began saving up to purchase the right property. Eventually, they managed to hit their target, and purchased a former house with a house and 200 acres of land without taking a mortgage. Fiona has always done vlogs, so she began showcasing their journey to transform the farmhouse. Part of the work involved figuring out how to heat and cool the house when the weather changed. The previous owners had used a window AC unit during summer, and this wasn’t as efficient in modern times. Then in winter they had a wood stove that they would use for heating. This was effective since they had lots of trees in the 200 acre property. However, Fiona and her partner felt they wanted more modern ways to heat and cool the house. So, after consulting the HVAC professional for a business in the area, they agreed to go with geothermal heating. It’s not cheap, but they had the right budget for installing a geothermal heat pump. This meant they had a HVAC crew at the farm for some time, as well as plumbers and electricians working to make the house livable.
