The temps over here get so low that you needs a heater

Frigid temps can drive you bonkers.

  • Greg has had his fill of people from the south speaking about how sizzling it gets.

The thing about heat is that it’s often uncomfortable, but it won’t kill. When the heat gets to be over 100 degrees, that’s what you need to worry about. Still, those kinds of temps are rare. Where Greg lives there’s rarely hot weather, but the cold is brutal. That is not a turn of phrase or hyperbole, it is a tolerable and accurate description. The temps around here can drop so much that you need a gas furnace or you might not survive. Having an air conditioner brings about lots of comfort. However, heating is necessary to keep you alive. People living up north don’t even bother owning an air conditioner, because there’s hardly any need for them. What’s far more important is a reliable source of heating, not just for your house and family, but also for your livestock. Other than farmers and ranchers, people never consider the heating needs of their livestock. When you raise cows, pigs, and chickens like several people around here do, you must make sure they have a safe level of heating through the brutal Wintertide months. Regular part gas furnaces won’t work in these situations because they can be a serious fire hazard. Instead, you need specific heating units used in barns that generate an ample amount of low-level ambient heat, while posing no risk for a fire, even if they get stepped on.
