I told my dad it isn’t difficult to work on air conditioning units, and he said nothing. I thought it was odd when he kept his mouth shut and walked away from me. The following day, he told me there was something wrong with the air conditioning unit and I had to fix it. I wasn’t the HVAC technician, so why would he think I would know what was wrong with the AC unit? He looked at me and told me I had said it wasn’t difficult to work on AC units. If I thought it was so easy, I should go ahead and fix it. I said it looked easy, but that was only if I knew what was wrong with it. I couldn’t diagnose the HVAC system, and I didn’t want to work on one. I got the response that if I wanted to act like I knew everything, I should be able to do it when he was asked to. I told him I could easily do the job, so now was his chance to show me what he could do. I walked away from him and reminded him he was the HVAC technician and I wasn’t. My dad laughed as I walked away and told me not to write a check with my mouth, if the rest of me couldn’t cash it, but I had no idea what he was saying.
