It’s July and I have HVAC heating on my mind

I love to make my wife happy.

She has been such an awesome partner for all these years that there’s not much I wouldn’t do for her.

So when she started talking a bit about having more air conditioning in the house, I was listening. We live way, way up north and air conditioning is really the least of our HVAC worries. For years, I’ve always thrown in a window air conditioner in our bedroom as my wife likes to have a cool place to lie down during the day. But the window air conditioning just wasn’t getting it done any longer and so it was time to upgrade. The HVAC company was great with adding the central air conditioning to the house. We have a gas furnace so all the ductwork was already in place. The HVAC contractor was able to get the central air conditioning going in one day. I have to say that I’m sure surprised how much I’m loving the central air conditioning. It’s July but my winter preparations are in full swing. We have a wood stove that acts as both supplemental HVAC as well as an emergency heating source. So there is plenty of wood to cut, split and stack for the winter. And coming inside to the this perfect HVAC cooling sure does help and old body recover a bit quicker. Traditionally, my winter prep has always concluded with the HVAC professional coming out to do the heating maintenance on the gas furnace. But this year, I’ll cap the winter prep by putting a hard plastic cover over the HVAC cabinet outside the house that provides the air conditioning. This keeps the weight of the snow and ice off the delicate air conditioning parts.
