For the last few years at least, I have gotten to work and literally had to psyche myself in the parking lot just go inside.
That’s not at all how I felt about our task when I started.
Back then, there was dynamic leadership that made us all appreciate a team! Last year, 2 employees got in a fist fight over the temperature control setting. That’s how far things had fallen from when the task was fun. And on top of the dissension, division and malaise, the commercial heating and air conditioning was terrible. I’m also absolutely sure that I wouldn’t have fought over the temperature control setting because it actually didn’t matter. That commercial heating and air conditioning component was so over that it couldn’t keep up. When you needed the heating, it was consistently cold. I had to bring in a space heating system to put under our desk. The summertime felt almost as if I was toiling inside a sauna, but you could hardly even tell that the air conditioning was on at all. I was actually close to quitting as well. Then, a corporation came and totally cleaned the house. The entire management team was fired and walked off the property. The current management is a large change in the right direction. For 1, they are doing more listening than talking. That’s consistently a large sign that these are professionals. And apparently, the act on what here. It wasn’t 2 weeks before the locale was crawling with heating and air conditioning workers. Now we have awesome commercial heating and air conditioning with zone controlled heating and air conditioning as well. Just having quality central heating and air has been a big boost for morale. And I unquestionably want to get out of the car and get to work in the afternoons.
