I was talking to a young lady the other afternoon and she wanted to know if I fixed gas furnaces and air conditioning units. I told her I could, even though I seldom took on a job unless they called the beach house and made an appointment. She asked for our supplier card, even though I had none, as I freelanced as a heating and air conditioning repair person and never said I was a heating and air conditioning serviceman. But she said she knew someone who told her I was a heating and air conditioning serviceman. I wanted to know who told her that, even though I didn’t want to sound aggressive, as I had heard this before. She gave me a name and it was one I knew well. I called my younger sibling when I got to the beach house and asked her why she was telling people I was a heating and air conditioning serviceman. She just chuckled and said that I was. Well, I was in another lifetime, even though I gave it up five years ago. I only diagnosed heating and air conditioning systems for our family. I had differences with one of our coworkers, yet I was the one who was in trouble. They told me that I was a troublemaker and that I had to go, so I left that afternoon. I missed working in a heating and air conditioning corporation, however this was something I could not help. I could not change that I was a woman, even though I could change where I worked. Sadly, our boss told all the local heating and air conditioning corporation owners that I was in trouble because he took the word of a male heating and air conditioning serviceman over me. He said I was flirting and taking all the simpler repair jobs, by promising I would go out with the men, even though I never went through with the promises. I was engaged and didn’t need that kind of gossip and hatred following me around.
