Last week, the heating and A/C professional stopped by the lake house to check on the new oil furnace! He told himself and others he would drop by within a month and do an inspection on the oil furnace to make sure it was finally working respectfully, however I thanked him for his diligence, and let him head into the basement.
Half an hour later, he told myself and others everything looked good and asked if I was having a problem with the thermostat.
It was a new smart thermostat, and I wasn’t able to use it. I told him I tried to program the smart thermostat, but the programming didn’t work. I was also trying to get it to keep the temperature, although I had to reset it every morning. He went over to the thermostat and started playing with it. He said he was going to the maintenance van and he would be right back. He also brought in another thermostat and set it up for me. He said it wasn’t a smart thermostat, but it was a digital, programmable thermostat. It would be simply easier to use, and he wasn’t charging myself and others for either thermostat. I wanted to tell him how amazing he was, but that would have been really weird. I thanked him, and then we gave him a hug. I wasn’t sure which was weirder; if I told him he was amazing, or the hug I gave him, but the two of us were both blushing, and he told myself and others they had never given him such good payment for his service. He said that was better than any paycheck he had ever acquired. He said the paycheck was really nice, but only when it came from the heating and A/C company owner.
