Every year, we go to HVAC conferences across the county.
And one of the main reasons for the HVAC conferences is to learn about the latest in HVAC technology. It’s important to always keep up and know what is new and changing in your line of work. Gone are the days where people used huge ACs and complex heating systems. The new HVAC technology makes it easier to cool or warm your home. Our boss has been in the HVAC industry for 4 decades and is always sharing interesting things about the advances. He says he’s seen heating and cooling systems become more efficient and easy to use. However, they are much more complex to fix if and when there’s an issue. I remember one time he was talking about the first smart thermostat in his home. Our boss was so excited to get rid of the old dial system and use a smart thermostat at his lake house. He had to learn from his grandson how to use it, and set the app on his phone. The first time he had an issue with the smart thermostat was when our boss learned about the complex system. He thought he could fix the smart thermostat, but it wasn’t that easy. Instead, he had one of the HVAC experts come in to check the smart thermostat and figure out the problem. After that, our boss took it upon himself to master how smart thermostats work, and can now work on them with his eyes closed. But he still admits that HVAC technology is advancing fast.
