It was the end of February, and we needed our furnace.

I asked if he was going to make sure we had enough fuel for the furnace, but he ignored me.

We had a very mild winter, and February was the warmest. Instead of normal temperatures in the low 40s, we were enjoying temperatures in the 50s. I knew it was going to change, but I was hoping it wouldn’t. My husband was talking about turning the furnace off, but I didn’t like the idea. He said we could use the fireplace for the rest of the Winter season, but I said no. I wanted to make sure the furnace was running, because I had a feeling the winter we didn’t have was about to arrive. Two days later, I was listening to the weather, and they were talking about a severe winter storm coming our way. They were predicting ice, sleet, and up to five inches of snow. That wasn’t so bad, but the storm coming three days later was going to drop almost a foot of snow on us, and the temperatures were going to be in the upper twenties. My husband had already brought wood in for the fireplace. I asked if he was going to make sure we had enough fuel for the furnace, but he ignored me. I was sure he had already turned the furnace off. All I could do was that he would look at the weather, and it would let him know we needed the furnace. The fireplace was nice, but the furnace heated the entire house and not just one room. Later that day, he asked me if I had heard the weather report? I laughed and told him that was why I was insisting on having the furnace running.
