They offered a couple of energy-saving tips to help them lower the costs in the summer, when it’s especially cold.
My boyfriend and I are avid friends of ice cream. We have visited several different ice cream shops in our town. Our favorite one has to be the one by the beach. This is probably because we are coming in out of the heat on a summer day; whatever the reason, it consistently hits the spot. One of the best things about going to this ice cream shop is walking into the fresh chilly air. Wanting to cool off is one of the reasons to have ice cream, so walking into a chilled room is quite the treat. The last time my boyfriend and I were there, we talked to the employees about how chilly it gets there. They said the amount of money the owners pay in energy due to the air conditioner pumping all minutes of the day is extreme. They offered a couple of energy-saving tips to help them lower the costs in the summer, when it’s especially cold. One of their best energy-saving tips was to always scrub out the air filters. Because the shop is in a commercial area, with lots of foot traffic, the air filters fill up a lot more quickly than an average home filter would. Because of this, they swap out the air filters every few weeks, in the summer. This caused me to think about our own cleanliness practices, at home, so my boyfriend and I adopted this tip to make sure our system runs efficiently!
