Here in the South we don’t generally need our Heating.
- Most of the year we are using our air-conditioning, and that holds true sometimes even on Christmas day or Thanksgiving Day.
That being said, sometimes we do need to plug in our heaters. I do have a portable heater in my office all the time, and sometimes I even use it during the summer because it seems like Office Buildings are always cold. Home is a different matter, though. We are usually able to set our thermostats where we want them to be when we are at home, but there are times when the heating portion of our HVAC comes in handy. One of those times is today. We are having seasonably cold weather right now. It has been freezing every night, and in fact it is not getting very warm during the day, either. Normally, when it gets really cold here at night, it warms up 30 degrees or more during the day. That is simply not happening this winter, so my heating system is really getting a workout. I normally will set my heating thermostat to 67 or 68 degrees, no higher than that. However, these past few days I have been setting it all the way to 70°. I know they say that it is best to sleep in a cool room, but I have discovered that a hot room, or at least a warm one, has been very delightful for sleeping. In fact, both my dog and I are having a hard time getting up in the morning!I certainly am grateful for my heating system right now.
