Delicate artifacts require specific climate control conditions

I do have a back-up power supply in the house, which I can connect to the HVAC system in the basement if it’s necessary

I collect rare and unusual musical instruments. There are no pianos or guitars in my basement collection room, mostly it is filled with indigenous instruments you’ve never heard of before. Some of these things are so old they are made from wood or clay. I am not sure how much monetary value these instruments have, but their historical value is without measure. Since they are old, fragile, and in most instances irreplaceable, I have taken measures to protect my investment. I bought a small HVAC system just for the basement, so that I can strictly regulate the temperatures and humidity levels of the collection room. In the basement, the only thing that matters is air quality, so I also have the most expensive and high-tech smart thermostat on the market. The smart thermostat is connected to my phone, so no matter where I am I will get text alerts about any discrepancies. Since the smart thermostat runs on batteries, that means it can still notify me even if there is a blackout or power fluctuation. I do have a back-up power supply in the house, which I can connect to the HVAC system in the basement if it’s necessary. Investing this much money into the HVAC equipment is an investment in history! Over the last few months I have been in contact with several music professors and history scholars, and they all want to visit my climate controlled basement to view my exotic collection. One day I will give it to a museum, but for now I like having my own air conditioned museum in the basement.
