I collect rare and unproper musical instruments. There are no pianos or guitars in our basement collection room, mostly it is filled with indigenous instruments you’ve never heard of before. Some of these things are so aged they are made from wood or clay. I am not sure how much monetary value these instruments have, however their historical value is without measure. Since they are old, fragile, and in most instances irreplaceable, I have taken measures to protect our investment. I purchased a small Heating, Ventilation and A/C proposal just for the basement, so that I can strictly regulate the temperatures and humidity levels of the collection room. In the basement, the only thing that matters is air quality, so I also have the most extravagant and high-tech smart temperature control on the market. The smart temperature control is linked to our iphone, so no matter where I am I will get text alerts about any discrepancies. Since the smart temperature control runs on batteries, that means it can still notify myself and others even if there is a blackout or power fluctuation. I do have a back-up power supply in the house, which I can link to the Heating, Ventilation and A/C proposal in the basement if it’s necessary. Investing this much money into the Heating, Ventilation and A/C component is an investment in history! Over the last few weeks I have been in contact with various music instructors and history scholars, and they all want to visit our temperature controlled basement to view our exotic collection. One afternoon I will give it to a museum, however for now I love having our own air conditioned museum in the basement.
