A few weeks ago, I returned home from a trip that I had taken during the holiday.
During my trip, I was perfectly fine, and had a lovely time with my friends and family.
However, a day after returning home, my throat began to tickle as if I were coming down with a cold. At first, I didn’t pay too much attention to it because it’s the Winter and I usually get a sore throat, it’s the one time of year that I am guaranteed to catch a cold. Well, my sore throat lasted for a few days, and I got a bit of the sniffles, but besides that, nothing felt out of the norm for me. I mentioned this to my mom, and she said that it could be the air quality in my home. I was gone for almost 2 weeks and my house was locked up and I had the thermostat set on 65 degrees, but I am not sure if the system cycled on while I was gone. I have never been worried about the air quality in my home, but now that my mom brought that to my attention, I am wondering if that was the cause of my sore throat. After doing some research, I discovered that poor indoor air quality can lead to cold-like or allergy-like symptoms that include an itchy throat and runny nose. Without an air purifier, I can’t confirm or deny if the air quality in my home is poor, and now that my symptoms are gone, I am not convinced that they resulted from poor indoor air quality. My mom offered to buy me an air purifier, but I told her to hold off on that because I believe my air quality is fine.
