Mark was surprised that just a change in mindset could make such a big difference in the way I approached and used Heating and A/C cooling.
But then again.
He’s often surprised how a change in perspective and focus can offer tremendous upsides. Getting stuck in particular mindsets is pretty simple for most humans to do over and over again. The brain wants to organize things based on comparisons and ease. Or at least that’s the way it looks. So when it came to the air conditioner once Mark moved down south, his brain sort of took over the strategy separate from him doing much thinking on it. Where Mark came from there was Heating and A/C cooling and central air conditioner in his home. Yet, it was the gas furnace that was the predominant function when it came to the heating and cooling. There were about 2 months of summer time where the Heating and A/C cooling actually came in handy. But outside of that, they just didn’t use much air conditioning. So when Mark moved down here, his brain just decided that since there was loads more heat then he needed loads more Heating and A/C cooling. It took him some time to rethink the way he was approaching Heating and A/C cooling. And really, all it took was having someone else help Mark see a completely strange perspective. A local friend of his commanded that Mark just deal with the heat instead of pumping more air conditioner into his life. More air conditioners made the heat just seem worse. So that’s what he did. Mark waited until almost summer time to turn on the air conditioner and then, he kept the control component setting much higher. It worked so well.
